County Councillor's Report:-
Cllr Hopfensperger was in attendance and gave a report which included: A general update from Suffolk County Council to circulate to Councillors. SCC has been helping West Suffolk Council with the opening of the town centre. A response from highways officer on routing of HGV's to circulate. Cllr Hopfensperger advised she had asked for the Development Management plan to be sent out to Council as well as asking for the highways lead officer on cycle routes to contact Cllr Painter. Cllr Painter stated it was very important to secure the best highways option before the new housing development residents arrive. There was also concern expressed at the Bunbury Arms already being over capacity, it was felt all that could be done now was to mitigate the problems. Cllr Hopfensperger advised Persimmon Housing had been asked to make right any damage they have made to the verges at Upper Town. It was advised it was worth making comments on developments. Cllr Spicer the County Councillor for Ixworth had contacted both Cllr Hopfensperger and Cllr Brown in regards the kebab van. West Suffolk Council had exhausted all routes however SCC licencing committee were currently looking at permitted roads and could apply for an exclusion zones for example. This would have to go to cabinet and then full council but there is the possibility they would get the powers to prevent mobile vans but will have to wait until this is put in place. Cllr Painter advised the Chair of Ixworth Parish Council had also contacted him for information in regards the kebab van.
Borough Councillor's Report:-
Cllr Brown was in attendance and gave a report which included: Infrastructure meeting, Cllr Brown has contacted West Suffolk Council Planning Team to arrange a meeting as soon as possible to discuss this. Once a time and date has been confirmed he will contact the Chair Cllr Painter. West Suffolk Council have the powers for parking enforcement and issuing notices for illegal parking, this applies to all towns and villages. Consideration will need to be given by the public that whereby if they have parked in a place previous to April 2020 without challenge, noting it was the Police who would administer and were of stretched resources, WSC have suitable resources in place and will be administering in town and villages. Of particular mind is Mere View. Abbeycroft Leisure will be able to open its facilities from 25 July, which has received financial support from WSC during this period to enable it to continue and be prepared for offering services to the public. WSC call handles on the Home But Not Alone initiative answered 1,344 calls since 30 March. A full meeting of Council held on Tuesday 14 July. There are funds available from the Locality Budget if there is anything the village wishes to do that will help bring together and maintain good health along with a good community spirit, all ideas are welcome.
