Pakenham WI News - July 2024

Thursday 11th July 2024 - Annual Garden Party.
The July meeting was our annual Garden Party.   The weather had not been good and evenings chilly so we decided to hold it in the Village Hall.
Karen (treasurer) planned the menu and shopped.  Carol and Andi (committee members) helped Karen set up the hall with tablecloths, flowers on the tables and food on a long table. The buffet included: salmon, meat, delicious salads, dressings, cheese and biscuits. Deserts were roulades, tarts and strawberries all washed down with wine and soft drinks.
We welcomed our guest WI Advisor Maggie Glavin.  Our other guest was unable to come at the last minute.
Carole ran a competition identifying plants and drew the raffle. The evening was a great success.

Our next meeting is Thursday 8th August at 7.30pm, doors open at 7.00pm.  We shall welcome back Forensic Scientist Mary Newton who is a brilliant speaker. This time, an informative talk about rape & its consequences.
Do come and join us.   Refreshments follow and there is the opportunity to chat with members.

We normally have ‘Ladies Who Lunch’ each month, but instead we are visiting Sandringham Flower Show.

Our Coffee Morning will be in the village hall on Saturday 28th September: 10 -12 to raise funds for St Nicholas Hospice.
