Pakenham WI

SEPTEMBER 9TH 2021 – THE RWANDA SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF
Photo of Isobel BlakelyAnother absolutely brilliant evening in the life after pandemic of Pakenham WI,  when our guest speaker was the delightful and truly inspirational Isobel Blakely. Isobel, who endured a marital breakdown at the age of 63, picked herself up and began a new life in Rwanda. She was part of a team who set up and funded a new school and accommodation for deaf children, to give them a chance of education and a normal life. A wonderful, wonderful happy ending story, which Isobel illustrated with amazing pictures and an awe inspiring talk. Items made by the students were on sale after the talk.

We were delighted to welcome two more new members, and were able to offer refreshments and a raffle. Life was almost back to normal which was just so great, my thanks to everyone for such a special evening.

SEPTEMBER 25TH 2021 – THE MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING
We look forward to welcoming everyone to this extra special fund raiser, a Pakenham ladies special personal tribute to this amazing charity.

OCTOBER 14TH 2021 – THE UGANDAN ORPHANGE STORY UPDATE
Photo of Alison Brain and the Ugandan OrphanageAnother inspirational lady Alison Brain is our very special guest. Alison a retired nursing sister went to Uganda some years ago to set up and fund an orphanage and teach the women of the area how to fund and support the orphanage and themselves. Alison imports the most incredible beads, and other goods the women have made and sells them here in the UK. We all love her wares and most Pakenham WI members are renowned for the beautiful necklaces we wear all sold by our dearest friend Alison. Guests are very welcome.

OCTOBER 16TH 2021 – Should have been our joint jumble sale with the church but sadly this has been postponed due to covid until the Spring 2022
