Pakenham WI News - August 2020

Pakenham WI

As Autumn fast approaches Pakenham WI has at last reunited in person for the first time since March.

AUGUST 3rd 2020 – OUTDOOR COMMITTEE MEETING
The River Cottage riverbank hosted its second outdoor socially distanced  committee meeting, a wonderful opportunity for my nine members to catch up on personal news and make plans for the uncertain times ahead. Our many cancellations will always highlight 2020 but we all feel it is vitally important to plan for the future.  Our 2021 speaker calendar is now full of fabulous speakers including the wonderful wood sculptor and carver John Williams, and the producer and director of Dads Army Charles Garland to name but a few. !!!!

AUGUST 13TH 2020 – ANNUAL OUTDOOR GARDEN PARTY SUPPER
SO NEAR BUT SO FAR.!!!!
Seventeen members joined together in person at long last, for an outdoor socially distanced summer supper. We all brought our own food and drink, and adhered to every government pandemic guideline known to man. It was fantastic to meet up, but oh so difficult not to give each other a big hug. Thank you to Lisa and John for providing a brilliant outdoor venue, thank you to the weatherman on high for ensuring a dry evening, and an even bigger thank you to all the lovely girls who made the evening so special

SEPTEMBER 1ST 2020 – OUTDOOR COMMITTEE MEETING
As the nights draw in this month’s riverbank committee meeting has been scheduled for 2pm. Different but necessary, to avoid torch light and hot water bottles !!!

We still have no date to resume our hall monthly meetings however as things improve we hope to be back by October, and certainly plan a Christmas Supper even if its outdoors. Keep safe, and keep well my friends and a massive thank you to Martin Harrison and Ann Harvey for their continued publicity and support.
