Pakenham WI News - November 2013

Pakenham WI

October 23rd 2013 - Annual Thredwastre Group Meeting.
A highly successful evening for all the institutes in our group, our competition On The Street Where You Live was enjoyed by all

November 11th 2013 - Pam Ayres at The Apex.
This proved a truly memorable and enjoyable evening for the ten members who attended. Pam Ayres proved to be the very best of entertainers, many of her funny stories and poems relating very much to our own experiences in the 60's. We laughed non-stop for over two hours then spent the journey home reliving our teenage years, brilliant.

November 14th 2013 - Savy Shopping.
WI - 20131114 - Liza JonesLiza Jones told us all the inside secrets of successful and economical shopping. All the pit falls and all the enormous cons we are subjected to every time we hit the shops. We plan to be more careful in future, but one has to suspect no matter how hard we try the manufacturers will triumph over the humble shopper. Liza was yet another super speaker so passionate about her occupation and a pleasure to have as our guest.

WI20131114I was delighted to present Kay Trabucchi with a cheque for £200.00; our institute's contribution to The WSH Beat It Appeal, raised at our recent Race Night.
The competition to make a Christmas card was won by myself, with Carole Hurrell in second place and Marion Sargent in third.

The meeting refreshments were kindly provided and served by Pat Culley, Diane Townsend, and Jean George, thanks girls you were great.

Coming up:-

December 9th 2013 - The Federation Carol Service.
The members have been invited to attend the annual abbey carol service. This is a festive evening when the entire Suffolk Federation of Women's Institutes get together to celebrate Christmas, wearing ones thermal under garments and warm clothing is an absolute must.

December 12th 2013 - The Annual Christmas Dinner.
We look forward to another of Andrea Davey's wonderful Christmas Dinners served in Pakenham Village Hall. The after dinner entertainment will be provided this year, courtesy of our very own members. Who knows what spectacular talent will be discovered in our midst.!!!! The most important ingredient being that an excellent time is had by all who attend.

We start 2014 in January with ' A Breath of Fresh Air '
Mike Bray joins us to tell the very personal and amazing story of how his lung transplant changed his life.

I would like to take the opportunity to wish all A Very Happy Christmas and to thank my splendid committee for all their hard work, support and friendship over the past year.
