February 9th 2012 - Missing People
There are some meetings that members will recall long after they have taken place. Our February meeting was such an occasion when we were privileged to welcome Nicki Durbin. She spoke of her involvement with the charity 'Missing People' and to recount her personal story. Her son Luke went out one Friday night and never came home. Her heartrending talk was of anticipation, turning to disbelief and in turn to despair. Her battle with the Police to take Luke's disappearance seriously. Her own personal fight not to give up hope when realistically there was none left. Her gut wrenching grief that comes from somewhere deep within. We were all so moved and filled with admiration for her courage. To support Missing People we baked and sold cup cakes. Thank you to all who attended and gave so generously. A very special Thank You to Barbara at the Post Office who sold the surplus cakes on our behalf- so most of Pakenham enjoyed our cup cakes too!

February 13th 2012 - Van Dal - Norwich
Our first outing this year was to Van Dal, the last remaining shoe manufacturer in Norwich. The complexity of production was seen on a tour of the factory. Many found super bargains in the factory shop. Then off into town for lunch and the big stores. No one came home empty handed. Retail therapy is SO good for us girls!!
