Pakenham WI

October 19th 2016 – The Special British Forces Group Meeting
20161019Our neighbouring 7 institutes joined us for the evening to hear Sqn Ldr Paula Willmott talk on her life as a woman in The Royal Airforce. The evening started with wine and the most delicious array of finger food.20161019 A quartet from the RAF Honington band played half an hour of introductory music culminating in a beautiful rendition of the WI anthem Jerusalem. After a quick business interlude Paula gave us a rare insight into her ongoing career in a predominately man’s world.20161019Her experiences included the Iraq War, the disbandment of the Harrier jump jet and the auctioning off of the beautiful Vulcan’s parts. This delightful young woman held a large audience silent and captive for over an hour, an absolute inspiration to women of all ages.
My grateful thanks as ever go to my fabulous team for their hard work and support, which enabled us to produce such a highly professional and enjoyable evening.
