Pakenham WI News - February 2015

Pakenham WI

It is with huge sadness that I start my report with the news of  Margaret Harbury’s sudden death on February 7th. Margaret had been a regular member of our institute for many years and was my predecessor as president. She was the most gracious and lovely lady who will be so sadly missed by us all.

February 12th 2015 – My Other Life in Amateur Dramatics
Horry Parsons the BSE architectural engineer accompanied by his wife Susan,   joined us for the evening to tell the story of pantomime in amateur dramatics. After removing his outer clothing, he donned a dame’s outfit to act out numerous funny incidents during his 40 year career.
The refreshments were provided and served by Lynda Painter and Barbara Ciaravella, brilliant job girls and delicious eats.
It was a very sad evening for all of us without Margaret, but it was lovely to talk and share our precious memories of her. God bless Margaret.

Coming Up:-

March 12th 2015 – For the Love of Hedgehogs.
Lyndsay Norton is our guest speaker to tell us of her work and passion for rescuing hedgehogs. We look forward to meeting her patients and their offspring.

March 18th – The Chocolate Lady Trip.
A chocoholics dream come true as we hit the road to Essex for an evening of tasting, shopping and supper.

March 25th 2015- The Full Monty Trip.
Twenty of us head to the Regent Theatre Ipswich to see the stage production of the rave 1997 film The Full Monty. DUE TO UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES WE HAVE TWO SPARE TICKETS AVAILABLE £22.00 EACH, INCLUDING THE COACH FARE. ANYONE INTERESTED?

We have several members not joining us this year due to family circumstances  (Grannys required to look after grand-children). Two local institutes have closed recently due to lack of support so do please come along and give us a try. We desperately need young and interested ladies to ensure that our Pakenham WI continues for many years to come. We would be delighted to welcome you to our meetings.
