8th August 2013 - GUIDE DOGS FOR THE BLIND
Sandra and Graham Waspe joined us for the evening to tell a very personal story of their relationship with guide dogs for the blind. Graham who had lost the majority of sight in two separate horrific accidents was a true inspiration on how life does go on. Sandra was able to enlighten us into the history of guide dogs and how their dedication has raised much needed funds. Their companions for the evening were Opal, Graham's present dog and the wonderful Edward his retired dog, now totally blind. It was a wonderful evening full of compassion and love for these magnificent animals and their devoted owners. My thanks go to the refreshment girls Lynn, Kate and Teresa for the most delicious range of goodies.

5th October 2013 – RACE NIGHT
After the great success of last years event Ros Griffin has very kindly agreed to organise a repeat performance. The races have been updated, the fish and chip supper has been ordered and the hall has been booked. All we need is your company to help us to raise a lot of money to share between WI funds and The West Suffolk Hospital Beat It Appeal. Tickets £10.00 on sale soon.
We would like to send our love and best wishes to Miriam Dunn who is in Basildon Hospital recovering from heart surgery. Although not a member at the moment due to ill health, we consider this wonderful lady very much one of our own and hope to see you home very soon.
